Dear Parents and Community Members,

On behalf of the entire Doctors Inlet Elementary school staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! The scholars and teachers worked very hard last school year to become an A!  We will be celebrating with the students all their hard work toward that goal. We will be setting new goals this year to continue to improve learning and our instructional practices to ensure your child receives the best possible educational experience! We want Doctors Inlet to be the best school in the county!

We are pleased to announce this year that all Doctors Inlet students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year, no paperwork necessary.  We are gearing up for a great season this year with our football theme. Students will be celebrated as MVP’s and have the opportunity to engage in valuable learning opportunities.  They will be successful members of our Mustang Team.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and your families this year.  After graduating from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Varying Exceptionalities, I began teaching.  Two years later, I returned to UNF for a Master’s degree in Educational Administration.   For the past 12 years, I have been a teacher, team leader, teacher of the year for GPE, and an administrator helping Clay County Schools achieve greatness. I have experience teaching every grade from Pre-K -12th grade.  During my time at Grove Park Elementary and Lake Asbury Junior High I helped to improve their school grades.  My knowledge of rigor, small group instruction, differentiation, and student accountability have been integral in laying the foundation this past year at S. Bryan Jennings Elementary School.  I look forward to continuing the movement of excellent education in Clay County and am excited about this new opportunity at Doctors Inlet Elementary.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or needs in regards to DIS.

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our scholars can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your scholar’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our scholar’s success and want you to know that we will carry out our responsibilities.

We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

2) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills

3) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

4) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school.

Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our scholars can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:

1) Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom

2) Reading with children who need extra help

3) School-wide events

4) Student recognition events

5) Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers.

The wonderful DIS staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

 Carolyn Ayers
