Health and Wellness
-
As a Community Partnership School, students and families have affordable access to needed resources when it comes to mental health, physical wellness, and health education. We have partnered with community health organizations to provide care with the assistance of grants and donations. There are staff dedicated to coordinating care alongside parents and guardians to help reduce time out of the classroom.
Physical Health Care: primary care, physicals, sports physicals, vaccinations, acute illness, vision screening, eye exams, and dental health care for children and adults with private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and those who are uninsured.
Mental Health Counseling: students and parents can request referrals for one-on-one and group counseling. There are programs embedded into the school for students with parents who are active duty military, students with adverse childhood experiences, and students experiencing other mental health challenges.
Health Education: We will be connecting students, families, and community members with opportunities to learn more about wellness and self-care. Upcoming health education workshops will be virtual in our Zoom Meeting Rooms sponsored by community partners like Children’s Home Society of Florida, Clay Behavioral, Palms Medical Group, Orange Park Medical Center, St. Johns River State College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, University of North Florida, Wolfson’s Players Center for Child Health, Humana Healthy Horizons, and Simply Healthcare. Student Resources: Students and families may be facing financial, emotional, or medical hardship. In cases of need, it can be critical to reach out to someone you trust. In our school, we have several support systems in place: School Counselors, School Social Worker, ESE Coach, Administrative Team, Family & Community Engagement Coordinator, Military & Family Life Counselor (MFLC), Student Assistance Specialist (SAP), and more. We are dedicated to support students and their families to reduce barriers to getting the most out of their education. Link to Community Resources Here
