English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a program designed specifically to improve the language proficiency of students whose native language is not English. In addition to receiving academic instruction in reading, writing, speaking and listening, the Clay County ESOL program strives to develop an appreciation of diverse cultures and languages.
Based upon the Florida META Consent Decree, students have a right to be identified and assessed for English Language Learner (ELL) services; to have equal access to appropriate programs; to have equal access to all educational services appropriate to their academic needs; to be taught by an ESOL endorsed teacher; and to receive a two-way word-to-word dictionary.
