Teacher Advisory Council Overview and Application Information
The District is now accepting applications for the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council (S.T.A.C) for 2021!
This opportunity provides a forum for teachers to have direct communication and interaction with Superintendent Broskie. The council acts as an advisory committee to the superintendent on a host of issues, with the intent of helping to cultivate a safe, nurturing teaching and learning environment for all students.
The Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council is composed of teacher ambassadors from grades K-12 serving as the voice of their respective grade levels. Participants will engage in conversations with Mr. Broskie related to rigorous and diverse academic experiences, robust extracurricular opportunities, comprehensive student support services, fair and consistent school culture and discipline, authentic platforms for teacher voice and representation, technology, college and career readiness, student code of conduct, and policy.
The Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council meets monthly to discuss relevant and pressing topics centered on public education.
Program Overview
The Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council will be composed of two teachers from each grade level, who will represent the diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences of teachers across Clay County District Schools. Teachers will be selected by an application process, which will be reviewed by district level staff. Teachers who aspire to participate will be expected to:
- serve a one year term that begins September 2021 and concludes in May 2022;
- participate in monthly meetings with the Superintendent;
- discuss perspectives from the classroom;
- provide input on upcoming policy decisions and best practices.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Teachers serving on the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council must:
- currently be teaching in Clay County District Schools;
- fully complete the Superintendent Teacher Advisory Council Application;
- provide a recommendation letter from a current or former principal or vice/assistant principal emailed to Terri Dennis, Chief of Staff, at terri.dennis@myoneclay.net
Meeting Times
Meetings will be held on a monthly basis on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Meetings will be located at the Teacher Training Center located on the Fleming Island High School campus.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, August 12, 2021.
