Clay County Names 2022 Teacher of the Year and 2021 School-Related Employee of the Year

Clay County announced the winners of its 2021 Teacher of the Year and 2020 School-Related Employee of the Year awards on January 28 via a virtual ceremony.

The winning teacher is Meghan Grybb, who is currently an Extended Studies (gifted) teacher at Lakeside Elementary School. Grybb is from Dexter, Michigan, and received her Bachelors of Science in Education from the University of Michigan while on scholarship for softball. She has taught for 16 years at Lakeside Elementary School, for 15 years as an English Language Arts teacher for 4th and 5th grade before becoming an Extended Studies teacher. Grybb has coached softball at Orange Park High School and Ridgeview High School and has taught private softball pitching lessons for 18 years. When she is not on the field or in the classroom, she is working on her custom art business and spending time with her husband and two children.

"I am incredibly honored to have been chosen as Clay County's 2022 Teacher of the Year. Every year, but this school year especially, our teachers have stepped up to the plate to tackle the challenges in the current educational climate. The enthusiasm that our educators and students bring to the virtual and in person classroom during this unprecedented time is unmatched. I am ready to advocate for the teaching profession and to represent such an inspiring group of Clay County educators, administrators, and students,” said Grybb.

The winning school-related employee, Rhiannon Weiskopf, is currently the media tech assistant at Middleburg High School. Weiskopf is a former Middleburg High School graduate who has come back to serve. She has been with Clay County District Schools for six years. Weiskopf leads the cheerleading program and is the head coach for Middleburg High’s Varsity and Competition cheerleading teams. She is also the assistant coach of the girls weightlifting team and is a former flag football assistant. Weiskopf is the director of the Miss Middleburg pageant as well as plans several other activities to honor students. If she’s not at Middleburg High School, she is with her husband, Chase, and their two daughters, Riley and Callie.

"I am so honored to receive this recognition. I love Middleburg High School and want to have a lasting impact on students. It is a privilege to be a Bronco and I am so lucky to be able to help students achieve their goals," said Weiskopf.

“Mrs. Grybb and Mrs. Weiskopf are exemplary role models of the education profession. Their dedication to the students of Clay County is evident and their impact is long-standing at their respective schools, among their peers, and, of course, with the students that they serve. They will act as wonderful representatives for Clay County at the state level and I wish them the best of luck,” said Superintendent David Broskie.
